Privacy Policy

My Roux, Inc.(“Roux,” “we,” “us”) builds a personal styling app that helps you see, organize, and get the most out of the clothes you already own. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to make Roux work for you — and we never sell your data.

Information you give us

• Account details — your name, email address, and a password (stored securely, never in plain text), or the basic profile information from your Google account if you choose “Continue with Google.”
• Your closet — the clothing and accessories you add, along with details like brand, size, color, fabric, photos, and notes.
• Photos — images you upload or capture of your garments. We may process them to remove backgrounds and present items cleanly.
• Messages to Margaux — what you ask our styling assistant, so it can respond and improve your suggestions.
• Taste quiz answers — if you make your closet public, a short optional quiz (style, favorite brand, palette) that helps Margaux write your public profile lines.
• Early-access survey — if you join through our tester program, the details you submit on the fitting form (name, contact details, sizes, age, height, city, household-income range, brand preferences, and whether you consent to SMS).
• Community messages — messages, replies, and hearts you post in a public closet’s chat, including items you choose to attach.

Information we access with your permission

• Email (order confirmations) — if you connect an inbox, we read it to find purchase and order-confirmation emails and turn them into closet items automatically. From those emails we extract details about your purchases, which may include the items and brands you bought, sizes, prices and order dates, and the shipping/billing address on the order. For Gmail we use Google’s secure API; for Yahoo, AOL, and similar providers we connect using an app-specific password you generate. We look only for shopping-related messages and do not read or store unrelated email.
• Calendar (optional) — if you connect your calendar, we read upcoming events so Margaux can suggest outfits for what’s ahead. We use only event titles, times, and locations, and never change your calendar.
• Approximate location (optional) — a coarse, city-level location to tailor suggestions to your weather. We do not track precise or continuous location.

The Roux browser extension

Roux offers an optional Chrome extension, Roux — Order History. It is not required to use Roux and it is installed separately.

• What it reads. When you open your order history at a shop you are already signed in to, the extension asks whether to add that order to your closet. Only when you answer Yes, please.does it read the order lines on that page — brand, product name, size, colour, quantity, price, the shop’s own product identifier and link, the order number and date, and the product image the shop displays.
• Only when you ask. Nothing is read in the background, and nothing is read on a site you have not pointed it at. By default it reads only the page in front of you. If you choose Read my other orders too, it opens that same shop’s other order pages in background tabs, reads the order lines, and closes them again — only for the shop you are on, and only when you ask. The extension requests access to a shop at the moment you ask it to read that shop, one site at a time, and you can decline or revoke it in Chrome’s settings.
• You approve before anything is sent. It shows you every garment it found. Nothing reaches your closet until you say yes.
• What it does not read. It does not read or transmit your payment details, card numbers, card type or last four digits, your passwords, or your sign-in details at the shop. (It does read your Rouxsign-in token, so your garments reach your own closet — see below.) It does not keep a copy of the shop’s page: once the order lines are extracted, the page content is discarded.
• What it stores. Only, for the length of your browser session, the list of garments it has just read, so the panel can show them again if you click away. That is cleared when the garments are sent and when you close Chrome.
• How it knows it’s you. To put garments in your closet, the extension needs to know which Roux account is yours. It reads your existing Roux sign-in token from a Roux tab open in the same Chrome window and sends it, over an encrypted connection, to Roux and nowhere else. It is used only to authenticate that one request. It is never stored by the extension, never written to disk, and never sent to any shop or third party. If you are not signed in to Roux in that window, the extension tells you so and sends nothing.
• No ads, no affiliate links.The extension does not inject anything into the shop’s page, does not add affiliate codes or tracking, and does not change the page in any way.

Google user data & Limited Use

Specifically: we use Gmail and Google Calendar data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above; we do not transfer or sell this data; we do not use it for advertising; and humans do not read it except where you explicitly ask for support, where required for security or to comply with the law, or on data that has been aggregated and anonymized. We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI models.

Public closets — what becomes visible

Your closet is private by default. If you flip it public, other signed-in Roux members can see your display name, handle, closet items (including brand, item name, photos, and shop links), follower count, the Edits you curate, your closet’s chat, and the short profile lines Margaux writes. Sizes, prices you paid, order history, and your contact details are notshown. You can make your closet private again at any time. When you buy a piece you discovered in another member’s closet, we record that referral (who referred, what item, when) to credit her earnings.

Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send them (for example, “your closet is ready”). Disable them anytime in your device settings and they stop.

How we use your information

• To build and display your closet and power styling suggestions.
• To resolve the items you own to real product information (brand, name, image).
• To run Margaux, our AI stylist, and answer your questions.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service and respond to support requests.

Service providers we share with

We share data only with vendors that help us run Roux, under contracts that limit their use to providing services to us:

• Supabase — secure authentication, database, and image storage.
• Vercel — application hosting.
• Anthropic (Claude) — the AI that powers Margaux. Relevant context (such as items and your question) is sent to generate a response; it is not used to train Anthropic’s models.
• Google — sign-in, and Gmail/Calendar access you authorize.
• Product-catalog and image services — to match your items to real products and imagery.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete items at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data — see below.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, secure storage, and access controls. Any email app-password you provide for a Yahoo, AOL, or other IMAP inbox is used only to perform the import you request and is not retained afterward. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.

Your choices & rights

• Access, correct, or delete your closet data inside the app.
• Disconnect a linked email or calendar at any time; you may also revoke Google access at your Google Account permissions.
• Request full deletion of your account and data by emailing us.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as under GDPR or CCPA); contact us to exercise them.

Children

Roux is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
